Christmas Lights & Decoration exists to give decorators an honest, defensible answer to “which one should I buy?” This policy sets out the standards every editor works to, and how we keep our recommendations independent of how we make money.
Our Publishing Principles
Independence
Rankings are decided on the merits — owner reviews, expert consensus, value and safety. No advertiser, brand or affiliate partner can buy a higher placement or a better verdict.
Evidence over opinion
Every recommendation traces back to aggregated owner feedback and documented specifications, not a single staffer’s hunch. If the evidence is thin, we say so.
Honest use of AI
We use software to help gather and organize research and draft structure. A named human editor reviews, fact-checks, edits and takes responsibility for everything published under their byline.
People first
We write for decorators making a real purchase, not for search engines. Where a category involves electrical or ladder safety, the guidance is conservative and points back to the manufacturer’s instructions.

How We Source & Rank
We do not buy, install or physically test the products we cover. Instead we analyze thousands of real owner reviews, verified-buyer feedback and expert write-ups, weigh them against documented specifications, price and safety, and publish a clear verdict. Authorship & Accountability
Every guide is published under the name of the editor responsible for it, with a bio setting out their focus and experience. Expertise here is stated honestly as experience — time spent in the category and in the reviews — not as certifications we cannot verify. Meet the team on our editors page.
Corrections & Fairness
We fix mistakes quickly and openly. If we get a spec, price or fact wrong, tell us and we will correct it — see our corrections policy. We aim to represent every product fairly regardless of brand size or partnership status, and we apply the same standards to household names and newcomers alike.
Accuracy of Prices & Availability
Live prices and stock come from Amazon’s own Creators API and refresh through the day; each is stamped with the time it was last checked. Prices change constantly, so the figure on Amazon at checkout is always the one that counts. We do not display numeric star ratings or review counts, because Amazon no longer provides that data through its API and we will not guess or scrape it.
